ACLU of Delaware Honors Attorney David Fry for Voting Rights Litigation Work at Exclusive Event with Dale Ho
WILMINGTON—On May 13, 2021, at an Amicus Society event featuring Dale Ho, the National ACLU’s director of the Voting Rights Project, the ACLU of Delaware honored David Fry, Esq., partner with Shaw Keller, LLP, for his contributions to voting rights litigation in the 2020 elections.
David has worked on several cases with the ACLU of Delaware over the years, and with each case he brings with him an honorable commitment to his clients, and a motivation to seek justice that shines through his work.
Mike Brickner, ACLU of Delaware executive director said “Last year, we were facing a trifecta: a global pandemic, an historic presidential election, and a major slowdown in the United States postal service. This slowdown was impacting voters who, through no fault of their own, had their ballots tossed out in the presidential primary election because they arrived at the Department of Elections too late. We saw this problem, we wanted to file litigation to fix it, and David - without hesitation, agreed to help.”
During the event, David Fry noted the impact that the litigation had on real Delawareans.
“Our client was a person who was genuinely afraid that she was going to have to make the choice between risking her life, and exercising her right to vote,” said David.“Even when we don’t win, our efforts matter to the people we are working for.”
The ACLU of Delaware is proud to honor David for his history of collaboration with the affiliate, for his work on LWV v. DOE, and for the impact his work had on preparing Delaware voters to have their ballot counted in the 2020 presidential election.
