Last April, an important bill was introduced in Dover, and now we need your help to make sure it passes. HB 3 offers a chance for full-time state employees, including teachers, to receive 12 weeks of paid parental leave after one year of employment, which would secure these rights for the covered employees and pave the way for other employers to take action on similar policies. If signed into law, this bill would be a milestone in Delaware and nation-wide for reproductive rights, family rights, and workplace rights.
Every parent deserves an adequate amount of time to bond with their children. Paid parental leave policies benefit the parent/child relationship, parent/parent relationship, and the relationship between the parent and the workplace.

Since its introduction, HB 3 (a bipartisan bill) has gained support, gone through revisions, and even gained Governor Carney’s stamp of approval. Some people are pushing back, though, so we need your help.

Parents who expand their families by the birth or adoption of a child should not have to worry about finances when it comes time to start their family. Providing support for state employees is an important step in turning Delaware into a state which values the balance of work and family life.

Join Network Delaware's Reproductive Justice Campaign at a public meeting next Monday, February 12 at the Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew & Matthew from 6:00 – 7:00 pm to learn more about HB 3, how it affects you, and what you can do to ensure that it passes.
