The event is a unique initiative designed to provide a forum for input from the community around the issues that divide us as well as opportunities for bridging those divides.
Through the World Café model of appreciative inquiry we will address the question of those issues that divide us from each other, then move to breakout sessions where participants can discuss how to bridge those divides, after which we will reconvene and share the results of those sessions. The themes of the breakout sessions are:
- Economic Empowerment (for which we will have Dr. Mike Casson of DSU along with Ms. Jacklyn Quinn of DCRAC as facilitators)
- Criminal Justice (for which we have several Dover police officers, Kathleen McCrae of the ACLU, and Jayce R. Lesniewski of CLASI as facilitators);
- Fair Housing (for which we have Human Relations staff and Habitat for Humanity confirmed as facilitators);
- Political Involvement (facilitators are being confirmed); and
- Education (facilitated by Dr. Dan Shelton, Superintendent of the Capital School District and Atnre Allen or Danial Walker from DelawareCAN educational advocacy group).
This is a free event and lunch is included.
