Financial and Legal Implications for LGBT Couples

On May 11, 2011, a significant milestone toward the advancement of LGBT rights was attained with the passing of the Civil Union and Equality Act of 2011. The act, which takes effect on January 1, 2012, grants same-sex couples in Delaware who enter into a civil union the same rights, protections and responsibilities that exist for married opposite-sex couples.

Hear From a Panel of Experts

Join Ameriprise Financial for dinner to celebrate this moment in our history. You’ll hear from a panel of multidisciplinary professionals, including ACLU of Delaware Executive Director, Kathleen MacRae, who will discuss how the bill affects you and your partner. From emotional preparation to life planning, you'll learn about the implications entailed by a decision to legalize your relationship in the form of a civil union.
