Blood from a Turnip: Fines and Fees in Delaware

March 9, 2022 @ 6:00 pm
@ 7:00 pm

Delaware has the highest per capita misdemeanor arrest rate in the country, resulting in an excess of fines and fees that many people are left unable to pay, and worse: unable to escape.

Learn more about how we got here – and where we can go from here – with presenters Meryem Dede, Co-President of Network Delaware’s Campaign to End Debtor's Prison, and Mike Brickner, Executive Director of the ACLU of Delaware.

Participating in this CLE program will prepare you to assist the ongoing efforts across the state to help people find relief from fines and fees that place barriers on their lives unnecessarily.

Admission is free for Amicus Society members in good standing* and for the general public.

Amicus Society members receive free CLE credit for attendance. Admission for attorneys who seek CLE Credits but are not Amicus Society members is $50. Attorneys who attend are eligible for one hour of Continuing Legal Education credit.

*Unsure if you’re in good standing? Contact Melissa Bryson, development director, at mbryson@aclu-de.org.
