50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

The Delaware NAACP is organizing a rally at the Lincoln Memorial and march to the King Memorial in Washington, D.C. in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the historic 1963 March on Washington, during which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous "I Have A Dream" speech. Join your fellow Delawareans and civil liberties advocates as we celebrate this historic anniversary!

Saturday August 24th

Via AFL-CIO/CBTU/State NAACP sponsored by Cap Council UAW: Buses are free (although you will have to pay to use the metro) and will depart at 5 am from two locations:

Local 1183 Union Hall at 698 Old Baltimore Pike in Newark

Frawley Stadium at 801 Shipyard Drive in Wilmington

These buses will leave D.C. at 2 pm, and a boxed lunch will be provided for riders. To reserve your seat, email gmiller.de.aflcio@comcast.net, call (302) 283-1330, or fax to (302) 283-1335 by August 16.

Central NAACP will have buses leaving from Georgetown, Milford and Seaford with room for fifty-five (55) persons.
