The stakes are high in elections this year all over the country – even right here in Delaware. We need to ensure that people can vote safely and securely and that every vote gets counted.
Although Delaware has moved in the right direction on voting rights, we must remain vigilant about these rights. That’s why Delaware is joining the national Election Protection program by recruiting, training, and deploying Election Protection volunteers right here in the First State. These trained, nonpartisan volunteers will serve as voters’ first line of defense against any confusing voting rules, outdated infrastructure, misinformation, and needless barriers to the ballot box.
Help us defend the core of our democracy: our right to vote. Common Cause Delaware, a member of the Delaware Voting Rights Coalition (DVRC), will provide all the training and resources you’ll need to assist voters, and a supportive community of fellow volunteers will have your back. There’s a role for everyone – whether that’s monitoring polling places, helping people vote safely in person, monitoring misinformation online, or educating voters about their rights.
Nonpartisan Election Protection volunteers will be voters’ first line of defense against the confusion that often results from new election laws, changes to polling locations or procedures, or any other issues that could create barriers to voting. Become a part of the voting rights movement – become an Election Protection volunteer.
Volunteer opportunities
Poll monitors
- Poll monitors support voters at the polls in person, answering questions but also connecting voters denied the ballot to legal resources. This is a great way to directly assist voters and ensure that every valid registered voter gets to exercise their voting rights.
- Common Cause Delaware, a member of the Delaware Voting Rights Coalition (DVRC), will train volunteers.
- Time commitment: 10 hours between signup and Election Day (November 8, 2022)
Social media monitors
- Voting-related misinformation is a widespread problem on social media during election seasons. Social media monitors will identify voters posting on social media about difficulty with voting and connect them to resources and support. Additionally, you will find and report vote-related misinformation.
- Common Cause Delaware, a member of the Delaware Voting Rights Coalition (DVRC), will train volunteers.
- Time commitment: 10 hours between signup and Election Day (November 8, 2022)
